Angkor Social Innovation Park (ASIP) launched Innolab Kampong Thom on Saturday at the Polytechnic Institute of Kampong Thom.
About 200 guests, including SME owners, investors, and policymakers attended the launch, which began with a salute to Cambodia’s brave soldiers and a traditional dance performance, followed by speeches from the guests of honour.
In his opening remarks, Vongsey Vissoth, Minister in Charge of the Office of Council of Ministers, said, “The framework for innovation is built upon three fundamental pillars including technology, business models, and entrepreneurship mindset. Utilising fast-evolving technology can unlock new possibilities and enable resource maximisation for SMEs. Business models, on the other hand, provide a structure and strategy that can translate ideas into sustainable values, while an entrepreneurship mindset fuels the vision, resilience, and determination needed to bring innovation to life,” he added.
Skills Development Fund CEO Ky Sokkim, in the welcome speech, said skills development and capacity building are essential for SMEs to thrive, stay competitive and become key drivers of innovation and sustainable economic growth.”
Kampong Thom Provincial Governor Nuon Pharath graced the event with a keynote address. “A supportive ecosystem is essential for the success of SMEs and the growth of the country’s economy.
SMEs face three main challenges: ecosystem, skills and technology, and management. In this regard, this project and its partners serve as a vital platform to connect SMEs with policymakers and relevant stakeholders, creating a comprehensive ecosystem that enables informed decision-making and drives sustainable economic growth,” he said.
Khmer Enterprise CEO Chhieng Vannmunin was also a guest of honour.
