The Angkor Social Innovation Park hosted the grand finale of Innolab Kampong Thom on Saturday at the Polytechnic Institute of Kampong Thom, marking the end of a 10-month programme for 20 small and medium-sized enterprises.
The initiative, which began in July 2025, aimed to help local businesses refine their models and develop innovative solutions.
The programme was supported by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, along with sponsorship from the Skills Development Fund (SDF) and Khmer Enterprise, organised in collaboration with the Polytechnic Institute of Kampong Thom, CONSA Tech, I-Shop, Khmer Times, Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association and Kiripost under the slogan “Connect SMEs, Connect Innovation”.
The event included keynote addresses from government leaders and a high-stakes pitching session.
SDF CEO Ky Sokkim said that capable leadership is the foundation of business success. “We partnered with ASIP because we believe skills are the vital tool in driving economic growth,” he said.
Deputy Governor Han Kosal said that achieving Cambodia’s economic goals requires a “growth mindset” and investment in human capital.
During the event, 20 SMEs presented their progress to a judging panel. Following a two-tier evaluation, the group was narrowed down to seven finalists before the top three winners were announced.
The event culminated with remarks from Vongsey Vissoth, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in Charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers.
“Entrepreneurs are key drivers of Cambodia’s development. Therefore, we continue to focus on strengthening the capacities, capabilities, and competitiveness of workers and business leaders to improve productivity and support economic growth,” he said.
“Moving forward, Cambodia will place greater emphasis on strengthening production capacity as a core engine of growth. Kampong Thom, in particular, has become a key focus for investment and plays an important role in the country’s strategic development planning,” he added.
